Happy Canada Day to our many Canadian readers! This great nation is celebrating its 149th birthday today.
As Canadians, we must never forget how incredibly blessed we are to live in this country. Our good fortune has not been an accident. Canadians have built a great nation through a hard working entrepreneurial spirit, an unshakable commitment to freedom and democracy, visionary leaders at all levels of society, courageous men and women in uniform, and compassion and respect for others. And our freedom has not come without a price – think today of all the countless brave men and women who have fought for our country, and how so many of them made the ultimate sacrifice to help keep our nation free and prosperous.

While there is no Morning Musings today, U.S. markets are open and we’ll be posting a brief market update as well as Daniel’s Den later this morning – so check back for that. Gold has powered through $1,320 today – a move signaled by the Venture’s climb yesterday through resistance to its highest level since November 2014.
