Lest We Forget
Today in Canada and the United States is a day that has been set aside to honor those who have served and are serving (including some of our subscribers) in our respective armed forces – it is their collective bravery that has given our two great nations the freedoms that we enjoy and, unfortunately, often take for granted.
Recently and over the decades, so many of our soldiers have come home with all sorts of scars – physical scars, emotional scars, and mental scars (a report earlier this week revealed that the number of homeless veterans on the Canadian federal government’s radar screen continues to grow with nearly 800 veterans now in that data base, a disgrace). Historically, well over 100,000 Canadians have paid the ultimate price and have died fighting for the freedoms that so many of us take for granted.
This particular Remembrance Day in Canada, and Veterans Day in the United States, takes on even greater meaning given both countries’ current engagement against Islamist terrorist groups plus other very serious threats we face.
Here at BMR we hope that you will join us as we remember and honor our men and women who have served and who are serving in our armed forces, protecting our continent and standing up for freedom and liberty throughout the world. We are truly grateful for their bravery and sacrifices, and may God continue to protect and bless our two nations.
In Flanders Fields

In Flanders fields the poppies blow
Between the crosses, row on row,

AS a young boy I formed stark memories of World War 2 living in rural Lincolnshire in England. I have vivid recollections of endless army convoys meandering towards the East coast.
Seeing a Spitfire crash land in the field next to our house and the pilot walk away uninjured. Having a glider full of paratroopers land in the village when its towrope broke and the bomber that flew just above our house and dropped his bombs in the local church yard….they just slid into the soft earth and did not explode.
Just about every family in the village lost someone and Nov 11 services in the local church were always very emotional affairs.
The fallen and the serving will not be forgotten if we in family circles remind our children and grandchildren of the history and lessons learned.
The above are all incidents and events but what remains with me is the love and warmth from the people who would give anything to a needy person…like taking in children from the bombed London areas and provide a safe home sometimes for several years
Those were tough times and the people’s spirit was unbroken.
I like to think that should those times ever happen again people would react in the same way but let us pray that those horrific times are gone forever.

Guys, thank you for the Veteran’s & Rememberance Day Tribute. As a combat veteran with three tours in the desert and 26+ years of active duty service, I can tell you it means a lot. One of the many freedoms we enjoy is the ability to invest in the future for the betterment of our families. I proudly salute each one of you for astutely guiding us down this path and all our Allied Veteran’s on this remarkable day!
