Macro Happenings The Personal Consumption Expenditures Price Index (PCE), the Fed’s preferred inflation gauge, was released at 5:30 am Pacific and showed an increase of just 0.1% from October. The measure indicated a 2.4% inflation rate on an annual basis, still ahead of the Fed’s 2% goal but lower than the 2.5% estimate from Dow Jones. The monthly reading also was 0.1 percentage point below the forecast. Excluding food and energy, core PCE also increased 0.1% monthly and was 2.8% higher from a year…

Macro Happenings The Federal Reserve just lowered its key interest rate by a quarter percentage point, the 3rd consecutive reduction and one that came with a cautionary tone about additional reductions in coming years. In a move widely anticipated by markets, the FOMC cut its overnight borrowing rate to a target range of 4.25%-4.5%, back to the level where it was in December 2022 when rates were on the move higher. Though there was little intrigue over the decision itself, the main question had…

Macro Happenings The Bitcoin-to-Gold ratio, a key metric measuring Bitcoin’s purchasing power relative to Gold, has reached a new all-time high (ATH) as Bitcoin’s price surges today to record-breaking levels above $106,000. The ratio has climbed to an ATH of 40 ounces of Gold per 1 BTC; Canadians’ pride in their country is plummeting under Trudeau, according to a just-released survey from the Angus Reid Institute. Only 34% of Canadians now say they are “very proud” to be Canadian (down from 52% when Trudeau…

Spirit Blockchain Capital (SPIR, CSE) We just love the way this stock has been trading, with each minor pullback met with eager accumulation. The PP that’s about to close is going to set the stage for another move to new highs. Continue to add around current levels, which should not last much longer. SPIR closed at 30.5 cents Friday, off 8.5 cents for the week The BC Bud Corp. (BCBC, CSE) Record volume was what caught our attention last month with The BC…
4:15 pm Pacific (Exclusive to BMR subscribers – Not for Distribution or Posting on any Board). Venture Update It’s abundantly clear that the Venture’s low for December will be in the immediate vicinity of 600, where there is exceptional support, and may have occurred intra-day Friday at 603. Historically, in a bullish year, the Venture’s December low has typically formed during the 1st or 2nd week of the month. Tax-loss selling is fairly limited this time around (we haven’t seen much so far), and certain stocks in niche sectors (the “market within a market”) have actually traded exceptionally well. Given…
Friday Footnotes Heading into Christmas and New Year’s, news flow is slowing down. My notes for this week are minimal. Regarding resources, not much struck me as newsworthy but that’s debatable. Solitario Resources (SLR, TSX) announced what they feel is a new “Wharf-style” discovery in the Dakotas, but the market wasn’t excited about it – 41 m of 1 g/t Au. Grades increased to 3 g/t Au before they quit drilling due to difficult rock conditions, but this all began at a depth of 322 m (fairly deep). SLR was up 12% for the week (not much volume, though). Anything…
9:00 am Pacific (Exclusive to BMR subscribers – Not for Distribution or Posting on any Board). Macro Happenings The Dow, on its longest losing skid since April, is in negative territory for a 7th consecutive session as the index closes in on strong support at its EMA-50, currently 43,500. The Venture has slipped 8 points to 604 with Gold under some modest pressure today, but the Venture has a very strong support band between 600 and 590 – now is certainly the time for bargain hunters to aggressively step up to the plate; President-elect Trump rang the opening bell yesterday…
