NASA Introduces “MAX POWER”
MAX Power (MAXX, CSE; MAXXF, OTC) is the world’s most advanced Natural Hydrogen company, the closest to potential large-scale commercialization of this new primary energy source – and it has also reported up to 8.7% Helium at its Lawson Discovery – so an announcement just out from NASA is rather curious to say the least.

Liquid Hydrogen is NASA’s premier high-performance rocket fuel – it powered the Space Shuttle and now fuels the SLS core stage for Artemis. Kennedy is historically 1 of the world’s largest consumers of liquid Hydrogen and recently built a massive new liquid Hydrogen storage sphere there. When Hydrogen burns with oxygen, of course, the only exhaust is water vapor. Helium is the unsung enabler: inert and stable even at cryogenic temperatures, it’s used to purge and pressurize propellant systems and to leak-check the plumbing – a single campaign can consume enormous volumes, and Helium supply shortages are a recognized risk to launch operations. In other words, NASA runs on exactly the 2 gases MAX Power Mining is unlocking in Saskatchewan – Natural Hydrogen, with a stacked Helium component (up to 8.7% at Lawson).
So, it turns out there are 2 MAX POWERS making history in 2026. Will this ultimately lead to some sort of collaboration between the 2, or is one already contemplated?

Greetings from a little bit south of Saskatoon where there’s definitely a hockey theme playing out in the middle of summer, in addition to an exploration story of global significance – history in the making, in fact.
This is Saskatchewan and Canada at its finest, a rough-and-tumble group of drillers along with a “professor-type” genius geologist – the “prolific all-star center” – supported by a deep bench, top-tier coaches and management, and a lead “owner” who’s 1 of the greatest resource investors of all time. Together, they are rapidly moving toward their goal of taking MAX Power (MAXX, CSE) into the record books as the first company in the world to confirm a large-scale commercial discovery of the first new primary energy source in decades – Natural Hydrogen.
During this burgeoning AI data center age, at a time when energy issues and energy security are dominating the headlines, what could be more significant than proving up a new primary energy source that can exist at scale?
It’s why CBC National has just paid a visit to Central Butte and the Lawson Complex – media interest is accelerating as the realization starts to set in that MAX Power could indeed be on the cusp of an extraordinary event that began with its initial discovery late last year.
This is a team determined to “Make It Happen”.
Lawson 3 is their “Hat Trick” – the 3rd well at the Lawson Complex that aims to triangulate a Natural Hydrogen subsurface system that Chief Geoscientist Steve Halabura is now more convinced than ever has the potential to host a “very large volume” of a new primary energy source – perhaps regenerative – that could change the world. That’s not the only measure of commerciality, of course, but he’s increasingly optimistic about flow and concentration when that testing begins with the completions round in the near future. Halabura has the big vision and is always thinking outside the box, but he’s also a pro at de-risking a project which he has done at Lawson. This also explains why he was key member of the discovery team at the Jansen deposit, the largest private investment in Saskatchewan history (>$15 billion CDN) that’s soon to become 1 of the largest Potash mines in the world (it’s safe to assume that BHP CEO Brandon Craig is watching events closely at Lawson as Natural Hydrogen could help decarbonize and lower costs at Jansen).
BMR’s boots-on-the-ground coverage of this remarkable resource story begins today from the platform of Savanna Drill Rig #416, pushing deeper at Lawson 3, after encountering ~860 meters of continuous elevated Natural Hydrogen readings in Lawson 2 including the highest readings recorded to date at this discovery.
The drill crew is pumped, and that’s always a good sign. The records keep stacking up for these guys – they just recovered the most core from the basement complex from any single well in Saskatchewan history.
This has “WINNING” written all over it.

Geological Model Continues To Strengthen

It’s always a great sign in this business when a geological model not only holds up but strengthens – and that’s exactly what has occurred at the Lawson Complex.
From the right source rocks to migration pathways to reservoirs to traps and seals, Lawson and the Genesis Trend have it all.
Lawson 2, as reported last Thursday (Aug. 6) by MAX Power, also showed an “enhanced fracture system”. This is critical because fractures create physical pathways for water and Iron-rich rock interaction – this is bullish for Gas generation and provides channels for the Natural Hydrogen to migrate and accumulate underground. Halabura is particularly enthused about “micro fractures” that were initially detected in Lawson 1 cores through a CT Scanner and are believed to be even more abundant in Lawson 2.
Here’s another of many key factors in Lawson’s favor – the Lawson Alkaline Igneous Complex also appears to be quartz-depleted. This low amount of silica prevents the chemical environment from being buffered into less-reducing conditions, allowing stronger Iron-alteration reactions to produce Natural Hydrogen. In more layman terms, when quartz and silica are depleted, the surrounding minerals – like Iron-rich mafic rocks – face fewer barriers. This greatly increases the volume of Natural Hydrogen produced during mineral weathering.
